Details:
On 26/03/2024 at 1:18pm our Kenworth T659 (PM41) was west-bound and unladen headed for South Forest in the Circular Head district to grab a load of export logs.

Whilst travelling along the Bass Highway Robert (our driver) caught sight of an oncoming Scania prime mover towing a chip bin that was wildly out of control coming down the hill.

With no room to get out of the way of the oncoming truck Robert aimed his combination at the guard rail and hit the brakes to minimise the impact severity. The driver of the oncoming Scania managed to get the prime-mover end of the combination into the correct lane however the trailer was in a whip scenario and crossed into the path of our truck.

The resulting impact snapped the Scania and bin trailer straight again forcing it into the guard rail on the eastbound side of the road before it went down the bank rolling the truck a full rotation landing back on its wheels. During the roll the trailer became uncoupled from the prime mover and ended up laying on its right side in the roadside.
